100+ inbounds from one post

Topflight sells against a pain every digital-health founder knows: software that is technically perfect and practically useless. We wrote that pain into one story and posted it in r/SaaS. 983k impressions and 1,326 comments later, the internet is still retelling it.

post. That was the whole campaign.

The situation

Topflight is a healthcare app development agency — and the team behind Specode, an AI-assisted platform for building HIPAA-ready patient apps. Their buyers are digital-health founders, and founders do not click agency ads. They read war stories from people stuck in the same mess they are.

The mess is specific: $300k builds no doctor adopts, demos that impress everyone except the physicians who have to use them. That disaster is the exact conversation Topflight gets hired to fix — if Topflight is in the room when the story gets told.

What we did

One story, told where it hurts

The challenge
Our approach
Healthcare buyers ignore agency marketing and distrust polished ads.
Wrote a first-person story dramatizing the exact failure Topflight gets hired to prevent: $300k spent, zero adoption.
The healthcare-industry subreddits are small and moderate promotion aggressively.
Posted it in r/SaaS — the big room where the buyers actually read.
One-shot promotional posts sink without real engagement.
The thread earned its reach: 2,763 upvotes, with 1,326 comments doing the selling.
Ad impressions stop the moment the budget does.
983k impressions on the thread — and then the story left Reddit entirely.

Then the internet took over.

Search the post’s title today and the first thing Google shows is its own AI Overview, describing the thread as “a classic and painful startup cautionary tale” — sourced from the LinkedIn posts, Reddit threads and Instagram videos retelling it.

Google AI Overview calling the post a classic and painful startup cautionary tale, citing LinkedIn, Reddit and Instagram retellings

Below the fold, the retellings stack up: consultants drawing lessons on LinkedIn, an Instagram video walking through the mistake, founders re-posting the story in r/microsaas, a Medium essay, community post-mortems and blog breakdowns — every one of them repeating the premise the post seeded.

Google results retelling the post: LinkedIn lessons threads, an Instagram video, blog post-mortems, community breakdowns and a LinkedIn video on skipping user research

None of that was bought. One seeded story became the category’s shared reference for why healthcare apps fail — written by the team that builds the ones that don’t.

All the upsides of having a working Reddit marketing strategy

If your category's subreddit moderates you out...

that is not the end of the strategy. It is the start of it.

The room where your buyers already are...

is usually one door over from the room with your industry's name on it.

Every thread we publish in a sub...

you own stays indexed. You stop paying us, it keeps ranking.

Papermark

Reddit is doing so much for us in search. Papermark is now the top recommendation on Reddit in our category, and that matters.

Paul picks a CPM number and then creates a reddit campaign to hit that. Like Chappelle writes jokes.

Great results so far. The subreddit AEO work especially attracts the leads we love: qualified, not problematic, and with money.

MessageDesk

Love it, this is great. More I say. Real, traceable Reddit users became leads and booked meetings.

Most agencies do a bit of everything for everyone. Paul picked the hardest channel on the internet and built real credibility on it. That's why I advise Spacestation.

Love it. Our AI citations have been rising steadily since June and the growth curve looks good. Even in negative threads about us there's now organic fightback.

Amazing, great job. We now hold multiple first-page Google spots for the exact terms our buyers search, from international tax to Shopify accountant.

Papermark

The top Reddit recommendation in its category, and climbing search because of it.

Reddit is looking good. I'm impressed by the work these guys have been doing. My only question was how we could press even harder.

We told Paul we only care about one thing: General Legal coming up when someone searches AI law firm. Now the top cited source in those AI answers is a Reddit thread his team made.

The AMA they ran with our pro player crushed my expectations. Ads, our subreddit, AI citations, they handle all of it.
