The short answer

r/Wegovy publishes no karma or account age requirement, no written rules beyond a welcome message asking people to be respectful, kind and supportive, and no post flair. Almost every post in our sample stayed up; Reddit's own filters removed about 1% and we saw no moderator removals. It is a smaller and quieter room than the big semaglutide subs, about 24,000 members with a median of three or four comments a post. Bring a real question or an update about your own experience and it will get a few kind replies.

Who posts here

Knowledge levelBeginner

Most posts come from people in their first weeks or months asking what is normal: appetite coming back before shot day, a misfired pen, a new side effect, how the pill compares with the injection. Replies are gentle and practical, and serious symptoms get a firm "see a doctor" rather than guesses. There is no question too basic for this room.

  • New starters on the injection or the pill asking what to expect.
  • People a few months in posting progress photos and non-scale wins.
  • Patients switching to Wegovy from another GLP-1 drug, often because of side effects or coverage.
  • People losing insurance coverage and working out what to do next.
  • Providers and promoters, whose posts tend to stay up but get little engagement.

Reddit counts a removal by the subreddit's own AutoModerator rules as a moderator removal, so that share is not all human. Held by AutoModerator means the post is waiting in the mod queue.

The culture

r/Wegovy was started in 2024 and has about 24,000 members. It gets around 15 posts a day, but each one draws only a handful of replies. There is no sidebar, no rules list and no flair. The description calls it a place to share successes, challenges, questions and tips, and that is what it is.

Most posts are short text questions, about 80 words, from someone early on: appetite returning before the next dose, constipation, heart rate, a pen that misfired, whether the pill works as well as the shot. About 68% of posts are text and 23% are links, many of them crossposts of the same question asked in the bigger semaglutide and Ozempic subs. Progress photos get the most upvotes, though at a much smaller scale than in those subs.

With no written rules, the tone is set by the members. They are encouraging about progress, careful about symptoms, and openly frustrated with insurance. Coverage being dropped, appeals and out of pocket costs are a recurring thread.

What lands

  • Progress photos with a time frame and a weight change, and a line about what else got better, such as cholesterol or a long-term goal like no longer being classed as obese.
  • Posts about unexpected effects, good or bad, like achy knees improving or food tasting saltier. They draw more comments than most.
  • First-shot or first-week write-ups that describe what the person felt, which give other new starters something to compare against.
  • Relatable everyday questions, like when people gave up and bought smaller clothes.

What gets removed or ignored

  • Very little. We saw no moderator removals in the sample and Reddit's filters took about 1% of posts.
  • With no published rules, there is no list of banned topics to go by.
  • The welcome message asks for respect and kindness, so posts that attack or shame other members are the clearest thing a moderator would act on.

The unwritten rules

  • Give your details: dose, weeks on it, the shot or the pill, and what is actually happening. The replies get much better.
  • Serious symptoms get told to see a doctor, not diagnosed. Do not post looking for anything else.
  • Posts that read like provider ads, including ones framed as questions about compounded versions or provider drama, do stay up here. They get few replies and members ask pointed questions about them.
  • Comments are a bit longer than in most health subs, around 32 words, and almost never include a link.
  • Crossposting the same question to several GLP-1 subs is common and nobody minds, but the answers here will be fewer.

Self-promotion

There is no self-promotion rule because there are no written rules at all, only a request to be respectful, kind and supportive. In practice disguised provider promotion does stay up, but it draws little engagement and the comments are skeptical. A member who answers questions from their own experience is welcome. Treating a room of patients as a sales channel is not, rule or no rule, and it does not work here anyway.

Common questions

How much karma do you need to post in r/Wegovy?

None is published, and no karma filter showed up in our sample. About 98% of posts stayed up, with Reddit's filters removing roughly 1%. A new account can post here.

Can I promote a product or service in r/Wegovy?

There is no written rule against it, but the welcome message asks members to be respectful, kind and supportive, and promotional posts that stay up get little engagement and skeptical replies. Sharing your own experience is the only thing that lands.

What are the rules of r/Wegovy?

There is no rules list or sidebar. The welcome message from AutoModerator says the rules are simple: be respectful, kind and supportive. It also points people on the pill to a separate pill community.

Is r/Wegovy active?

It gets around 15 posts a day, but most get only three or four comments. It is smaller and quieter than the main semaglutide and Ozempic subs, so expect a few kind replies rather than a long thread.

Data as of October 15, 2026. Numbers come from public Reddit data (the Arctic Shift archive and GummySearch) sampled on this date. Removal share counts posts taken down by moderators, AutoModerator or Reddit's own filters. Banner and icon belong to the community. Moderators change rules without notice, so treat the sidebar as the final word.
