The short answer

r/Zepbound publishes no karma or account age requirement, though AutoModerator holds about 3% of posts for review on criteria it does not explain. About 91% of posts stay up, every post carries a flair, and the room moves fast at close to 100 posts a day. It is a support community for people taking the medication: honest experience, progress and questions land, while sourcing compounded or research tirzepatide and any kind of promotion are removed. Search before you post, because common questions can be taken down.

Who posts here

Knowledge levelBeginner to intermediate

First Timer is one of the biggest flairs and people asking about their first shot get patient, kind answers. Regulars use shorthand like SW, CW and GW and talk about dose steps without explaining them, and the wiki has a beginner's guide plus a weekly welcome thread. The search rule means a question that has been answered many times can be removed, so a basic question does better with your own details attached.

  • Patients in their first weeks, nervous about side effects and asking what to expect.
  • Long-term users one or two years in, posting before and after photos and maintenance experience.
  • People fighting insurance, prior authorizations and cost, especially as employers drop coverage.
  • People switching from semaglutide or another medication and comparing how it went.
  • A few founders asking for feedback on apps and tools for people on the medication.

The rules, in the mods' words

  1. 1

    Be Courteous/Inciting Violence

This community is for new, experienced, and anybody wanting to know more information about Zepbound. Be respectful. Inticing violence of any kind will not be tolerated and will be removed. Serious instances of inciting violence will result in a permanent ban.

  2. 2

    Leverage the Search Function

Before posting something that may be common, use the search feature. Tons of common asked question have been asked, answered, has tips and tricks and great discussions. Failure to utilize the search feature will result in your post possibly being removed.

  3. 3

No Sourcing of Compounded Tirzepatide / No Research Peptide

r/Zepbound is a community about the brand medication Zepbound/Mounjaro. With the allowance of compounded discussion. Lyophilized, Reconstitution, or Research Peptides is NOT allowed. However Sourcing of Compounded Medications is against reddits site-wide rule #7, and will be removed. This has been verified with Reddit. Research Peptide is also not allowed. Continued sourcing after warning will result in a temporary ban, if it continues a permanent ban.

  4. 4

    Zepbound Focused Posts

All posts within this subreddit should directly relate to Zepbound medication or its related drug, tirzepatide. This includes discussions, questions, news, personal experiences, and scientific findings. Exclusions: Posts primarily focused around compounding medicine or unrelated topics should be redirected to more appropriate subreddits. These types of post are subject to removal

  5. 5

    No Promotions/spam

r/Zepbound prohibits posts or comments with unsolicited promotion and/or spam of any kind. Such post are subject to removal.

  6. 6

    No Targeting/Hate

Self-explanatory. No post or comment shall indicate a user for defamation of character or defamation of another subreddit. We are all human, we have bad days and we have good days. If something is serious enough that it needs to addressed. Please report it and the mod team will look into it in a timely manner. 1st time will be a warning, after that targeting/hate post will result in a permaban. No questions asked.

  7. 7

    Seeking professional medical help

If you have concerning questions or wondering if you should see a doctor. Please seek professional medical advice. No one should be taking medical advice from the internet, especially a forum based site. Yes we are here to help and assist but your doctor knows you better than we do and can make the correct call regarding your healthcare.

  8. 8

    No Diet/Lifestyle/Body/Food Shaming

This is a supportive community with many people of different backgrounds who make different choices. We do not make judgments or shame people for their food choices, diet, body type or lifestyle.

  9. 9

No sales or trade of prescription medication.

Selling, including reselling or trading, prescription medications on Reddit is forbidden and is also illegal. Please do not seek to obtain, sell, or trade medication here. Any violation of this rule will result in an immediate 14 day ban. If continued permanent ban will occur.

  10. 10

    Photo/Image of Unblurred Third-Party Individual

To protect privacy and prevent misuse, posts showing faces of third-party individuals (family, friends, coworkers, etc.) will be removed. Recent reports indicate photos have been stolen for misleading advertisements, making this change necessary for everyone's security. You may continue sharing your own progress photos with or without showing your face. Please blur or crop out others' faces before posting. Contact the Mod Team with questions.

These are the rules as archived in January 2025. Rules change. Check the sidebar before you post.

The culture

r/Zepbound is a support community for people taking the medication, and it reads like one. About 240,000 members, close to 100 posts a day, and a typical post gets around ten comments. Most posters are patients dealing with real health problems, and the rules ban shaming anyone for their food choices, diet or body. Celebration is the default response to progress, and side effects are talked about openly.

Text is about three quarters of posts and images about a quarter, but the images own the top of the subreddit. The biggest posts are before and after photos and milestone posts: a year on the medication, 100 pounds down, a jacket that zips again. The everyday posts are short questions, around 100 words, about a side effect, a dose step, a plateau or how to pay for the next box.

Cost and access are the live fault line. Insurance coverage being dropped is a steady source of posts, and that pushes people toward compounded tirzepatide. The mods allow talk about compounding but enforce the sourcing ban hard and keep a long wiki page on its risks. Posts mainly about compounding are meant to go to other subreddits.

What lands

  • Before and after photos with starting weight, current weight, height and time on the medication.
  • Milestones that are not on the scale, like fitting into old clothes or finishing a 5K.
  • Honest posts about the hard parts, like the emotional side of losing a lot of weight or loose skin.
  • Specific questions with context: dose, how long you have been on it, what you have already tried.
  • Practical tips on travel, hydration, protein and insurance paperwork.

What gets removed or ignored

  • Anything that names where to get compounded or research tirzepatide.
  • Promotion or spam of any kind, in posts or comments.
  • Repeats of common questions. Several removed posts were near duplicates, and side effect posts were the flair removed most often. Our data does not show the reasons.
  • Offers to sell or trade medication, which carry a 14 day ban on the first offense.
  • Photos that show other people's faces unblurred.

The unwritten rules

  • Use the shorthand. SW, CW and GW, plus your height, dose and how long you have been on it, is how people frame a post here.
  • Be kind about bodies and food. This is a weight-loss support room, and posts that push toward fitness goals or judge how others eat get a cool reception.
  • Ask for experiences, not medical decisions. The rules tell people to see their doctor, and regulars say "talk to your doctor" often.
  • Comments are warm and short, around 33 words, and almost never carry a link. A link to a product in a comment stands out.
  • Compounded medication comes up a lot, but keep it to experience and never say where you got it.

Self-promotion

The rule prohibits unsolicited promotion and spam in posts and comments, with no carve-out for founders. In practice, a feedback request from someone building a tool, with no link and plain questions about whether the problem is real, can stay up. Anything that reads as selling a product, a provider or a program does not belong here. If you are building something for people on this medication, say so up front, ask questions, link nothing, and expect a room that cares about its members more than your launch.

Common questions

How much karma do you need to post in r/Zepbound?

No karma or account age requirement is published. AutoModerator holds a small share of posts, about 3%, for the mods to review, but the criteria are not public. Pick a flair, search before posting, and include your own details.

Can I promote a product or app in r/Zepbound?

No. The rules prohibit unsolicited promotion and spam in posts and comments. A founder asking for honest feedback with no link has stayed up, but anything that reads like an ad or points people to a provider is removed.

Can you talk about compounded tirzepatide in r/Zepbound?

You can discuss it, but you cannot say where to get it. The rules ban sourcing compounded tirzepatide and ban research peptides entirely, and repeat offenders are banned. Posts mainly about compounding are meant for other subreddits.

Why was my r/Zepbound post removed?

About 91% of posts stay up. The common reasons for removal are a question that has been asked many times, sourcing, promotion, or a photo with someone else's face. Reddit's filters, AutoModerator and the mods each take about 3% of posts.

Data as of October 15, 2026. Numbers come from public Reddit data (the Arctic Shift archive and GummySearch) sampled on this date. Removal share counts posts taken down by moderators, AutoModerator or Reddit's own filters. Banner and icon belong to the community. Moderators change rules without notice, so treat the sidebar as the final word.
